Black Ops Limited Edition landing with 'First Strike' DLC photo

Activision has confirmed that they will be releasing a limited edition of Black Ops which will include a redemption code for the first downloadable content, “First Strike” (which cost $15 alone!). This limited edition will cost $59.99 and will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360. I’m still not going to invest in it, but this is kinda nice for those that haven’t bought Black Ops yet.

But why should you when it can be downloaded straight to your console? I don’t know. Better yet, are they going to run out of download codes for this content? Probablyy not. So, uhhh … yeah, I really don’t know why you’d need to pre-order Annihilation, but the option is out there, I guess. And you can trade in stuff towards the purchase. Wooooo. -___-

As of tomorrow, Redbox, that large red machine at your local grocery store or mall, will begin to host game rentals. If I recall correctly, game rentals will cost $2 a day, and just like movie rentals, they will auto-renew on your credit card if you don’t bring them back. At launch only a few titles will be available and here’s a list of em’:

  • Brink [PS3, 360, Wii]
  • LA Noire [PS3]
  • Infamous [PS3]
  • COD: Black Ops [PS3, 360, Wii]
  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon [PS3, 360, Wii]

So, uh, that’s kinda something to look forward to I guess (even though Gamefly is better).

On June 28th, Treyarch will release its third map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Although no price has been announced, it will most likely cost $15, the same as the previous map packs. Annihilation will include four maps: Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo, and Hazard, as well as an “all-new Zombies experience, Shangri-La”. This map is set to incorporate “deadly traps, dark secrets, and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters.” Hm. We’ll see, Mark Lamia (Black Op’s studio chief). 5 maps for $15. Add the previous map packs in the mix, and that brings the grand total to $45 for 15 maps. LOLOLOL.

Playstation and PC users will also most likely be able to snag this map pack for themselves a month after the Xbox release.
